Sister Schools Aiding Children in Africa Lee Dunham had the privilege of traveling to Uganda with Terry McGill, founder of a Seattle based outreach organization called Sister Schools. The goal of Sister Schools is to teach compassion, service, and social responsibility by partnering students in donor schools with children in need. Children in Seattle schools donate school supplies, clothes and toys, which are distributed directly to children in schools and orphanages in Uganda. Through this direct connection, kids here get to see the first hand the power of giving, and kids in Uganda learn that they are loved, that they are not alone. |
Meeting the children in the schools and orphanages in Uganda was unforgettable experience for Lee. And having the opportunity to meet the teachers and volunteers who, despite the long-term effects of poverty and war, have made the courageous decision to teach, nurture, and foster the children of their country, was nothing less than an inspiration for all the volunteers.
This is not the first time OAC supported the mission of Sister Schools. Five years ago, Marshall Pihl also participated and traveled to Uganda to volunteer his time and spirit to the children of Africa. Both Marshall and Lee truly epitomize our belief in service and adding value to communities around the world. |
