OAC took advantage of a unique building design to create unifying, yet autonomous office space for two recently merged companies. Designers gutted the interior of an existing speculative office building in Bellevue, Wash, after initial attempts to work within the space proved too constraining for the client. The result: space that allows both arms of general contracting firm S.D. Deacon/Remco to work independently while sharing many of the common areas the new design offers. Shaped like a dumbbell, the office space features common reception and meeting areas with separate office space at each end of the axis. OAC focused on the builders' art, exposing mechanical components and leaving many of the building materials in a raw state. |
