OAC provided project and construction management services for the three-story Science Building at Seattle Pacific University. The facility houses the Biology, Chemistry, and Psychology Lab departments. Building features include 11 teaching labs, 8 research labs, an imaging suite, lecture hall, rooftop greenhouse, faculty offices, and many study and socializing areas.
The Laboratory Sciences Building is located between West Bertona Street and the central campus "loop" area. The location called for design and building materials echoing the surrounding traditional "collegiate" style of the campus. The building is clad in classic brick masonry and has steep sloped asphalt shingle roofs to complement the adjacent style of Peterson Hall. In 2003, it received the Honor Award from the Masonry Institute of Washington. As part of the project, the campus hydronic system, the primary source of heat for the building, was upgraded. Air conditioning and fire sprinklers are also provided throughout. The building received LEED certification in 2005. "Seattle Pacific University has been very pleased with the construction management services provided by Olympic Associates…[their] construction background and experience was most useful and they were able to lend insight to difficult issues…We have found good value in the services provided by Olympic." --David Church, Assistant Vice President for Facility Management |
